My first move would be launching a Zealy campaign to get real members into the community. A few engagement tasks with small rewards from the start goes a long way. I’d also reach out to a few KOLs who can help create awareness because if traffic isn’t coming in early, the community won’t grow fast enough. Those two things have to happen first.

Before posting anything publicly, I’d study the community first. Understand what it’s lacking, learn how it operates, know the history. That way when someone asks me about it, I’m speaking from genuine knowledge not guessing.

I can work with both. Building from zero and taking over an inherited community are different challenges, but I’m comfortable with either. Someone might look at my approach and say I did it wrong that’s fine. We’re all different. What matters is that I know my process and I can deliver regardless of the starting point.
