This happened to me in late 2024. Was managing a community, which looking back was definitely a dead-on-arrival project, with a super rude Founder. Its one of those experience where I just stayed for the salary. The project had nothing to offer after taking a quick look at its whitepaper (that's none of my business though🤣), just big unrealistic promises.
As earlier mentioned, the Founder was incredibly rude to community members, swearing and using curse words. I ended up being the one that end up appeasing both the Community and the moron founder. Looking back, the red flag were there but I couldn't see it at the time (as an amateur CM).
"Managing Up" for me, basically entails managing relationship with those above me, watch out for red flags🚩, and actions to take when the red flag presents itself. This is not exclusive to CM only, but to all organizational structure I'll happen to find myself
