I just went through the material that was dropped in the inner circle ,from what i understand, this speaks on how to better connect with community members, transform their narrative from I show up here because i am required to to because i want to then i just like showing up is all.
Personally for me, i once joined a community through a zealy campaign, one of the tasks stated that I attend their discord AMA, I stayed and listened to them interact with each other unlike other AMA’s this one was not stuck up or formal the founder and the team members laughed a lot with the community creating this sort of warm and welcoming vibe, they held a spin the wheel game and i won an NFT, maybe it was the way i heard their voices when they congratulated me or because that was my first time winning an NFT on discord, i just kept coming back to the server interacting with the members and participating in the games till it became an habit, now i always go to the server at least once a day.
The idea of breaking formality built up due to language barriers with the members by learning to speak 10 words in their language is genius actually, personally I’ll like to learn a bit of hindu i watch a lot of bollywood at one point in my life so it shouldn’t be that hard lol.
A lot of projects have tried to build up conversations in their community by adding a task that makes you send messages in the group chat, I and the dropsy community actually tried this method, we tied one of our farming mechanism to the arcane bot on discord which lets you earn xp and level up everytime you interact in the server, the results were pretty decent more conversations were being held , people got to know each other more and meaningful connections were made, i don’t think most of them still remember that they started talking in the server because they wanted to farm rewards lol.
The material was definitely an eye opener and as a community manager I learned a few tricks which I’ll try out in my community .
